Description of Action: 
Siam Garden has adopted an Environmental Policy in April 2018 in hopes to build on existing sustainable practices and substantially broaden the scope of our environmental practices

Waste Reduction
Description of Action: 
Siam Garden has a significant "take-out" business and has been relying on single use plastics for packaging. An effort to reduce the usage of single use plastics such as plastic utensils and straws has been initiated in January 2018. A detailed plan to significantly reduce and/or eliminate single use plastics has been developed in April 2018. Additionally, in 2017, Siam Garden has started buying all cleaning chemicals as concentrate and installing the dispensing system, thus eliminating a substantial quantity of large plastic containers from disposal (~30/mo or ~360/year)
Waste Recycling
Description of Action: 
Siam Garden is striving to become a zero waste facility and is currently recycling all cardboard, glass, aluminum and plastic. It has been recycling used vegetable oil since year 2000 by partnering with Darling Int. Plans are being developed to recycle all food waste by the end of 2018.

Energy Efficiency
Description of Action: 
Siam Garden has implemented a BMP to reduce electricity consumption. It has achieved measurable success by (1) educating employees to turn off certain pieces of equipment overnight, such as dishwasher with hot temperature booster, (2)replaced most light bulbs with LED equivalents, (3) installing "greenwise" filter panels in the walk-in refrigerator, which, by lowering humidity levels, saved energy.
