30 Years of Recycling in New Jersey

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Recycling Act.  The groundbreaking 1987 law mandated that all New Jersey Residents (including businesses) separate recyclable materials such as glass, aluminum and newspapers from their household trash.  Over the last three decades this law has significantly reduced the amount of garbage ending up landfills, with on average about 62% of residents recycling.
