Waste
Waste Reduction
Description of Action:
2020 has been a tumultuous year for our company and others likely as well. While the Covid-19 pandemic arose throughout the year, our company saw strong demand for our cleaning products. All four of our facilities ran a double shift for a while during the year. While there were new challenges facing the recycling industry at the start of 2020 and our significant increase in waste materials, ECOS did not give up on our recycling program and continued to source separate our materials for high recyclability and continued to work with our recycling haulers to ensure that our materials were recycled throughout the year.
Waste Reuse
Description of Action:
In 2020, we conducted a detailed waste analysis to highlight the items we reuse at our facility. By looking deeper into our waste stream we found that we reuse items such as 5GL pails, 55GL drums and totes, cloth rags, cardboard and v-boards, pallets, v boards, brown shipping paper, and kitchen ware. For 2020, we were able to sum up a total by weight of the items we reuse.
