Berje Inc. has partnered with Kearney Steel (Newark, NJ) for our Drum Recycling Program. About 125 Trailers with 45,000+ containers were picked up from Berje's facility for recycling. The Recycling includes Steel, Fiber, Aluminum & Plastic Containers. Trailer weights vary but at least 9,000 lbs. X 125 Trailers = 1,125,000 Lbs. of waste. Without this partnership and companies like Kearney Steel it would could be up to $1,000 to dispose of each trailer

Description of Action: 
Berje's Inc. generates about 100 Scrap Pallets/7,500 Lbs. of wood per week. Many companies will dispose of these pallets as they are a compostable item OR they will sell them to a company that turns them into mulch. Berje now offers all scrap pallets at no cost to a number of trucking companies. The pallets find new life as pallets again. Because they are given for free pallets with small board damages are repaired and are able to be reused once more. At one point Berje had to pay for the disposal of the damaged pallets. Damaged pallets could fill a dumpster each month. $400 X 12 = $4,800 7,600 Lbs of pallet each week X 50 weeks

Since moving into Berje's Carteret, NJ Facility in April of 2012 the company has added 4,092 Solar Pannels at a cost of $2.7 Million In one year the Solar Pannels produce about 1,514,618 KWH of electricity which is the equivalent of removing 158 cars from the road.

Description of Action: 
Berje Inc. has installed motion sensor faucets in all of it's bathrooms (19 Toilets/Urinals & 19 Sinks) Motion Sensor Faucets use 30% less water. Depending on length between 1/2 to 1 Gallon of Water is saved per use. Employees tend to wash there hands 3-4 times per day. On the low end end the faucets are saving 3 washes per 1/2 gallon or 1.5 Gallons. At around 175 employees that's 262.5 Gallon of water saved per day 262.5 X 5 days = 1,312.50 Gallon X 50 weeks 65,625 Gallons per years 65,725 gallons is 8.772.7865 Cubic Feet of Water Berje pays $5.65289 per 100 Cubic Feet
