Waste Recycling
Description of Action: 
Iron Hill Brewery currently recycles all of the cardboard that comes out of our restaurant and is currently working on developing a paper recycling program.
Waste Reduction
Description of Action: 
Every week, Iron Hill Brewery takes all of its used grain from the brewing process and sets it aside for a farmer to pick up for feed. This is about 2,000 pounds (1 ton) of wet grain per week, that is not ending up in a landfill. As an added bonus, Iron Hill Brewery is also able to avoid paying for disposal costs of this waste.

Description of Action: 
Iron Hill Brewery participates in The Crayon Initiative (http://thecrayoninitiative.org/). It is a program where all of the crayons used in our restaurant are sent away to become full crayons again. Iron Hill sends in about 3 boxes per month.

Iron Hill Brewery reclaims about 85% of the water used to chill its beer. On average this equates 1,800 gallons of water per week for a total of 93,600 gallons per year.

Iron Hill Brewery donates to different organizations to help them raise money for a variety of community events. Additionally, we offer a Give 20 Program where we donate 20% of food and non-alcoholic beverages to support different non profit and neighborhood organizations.
