As a Solar Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company, our core competency is to provide Solar Photovoltaic solutions through green construction for more than the past two decades. To date we have installed over 55 megawatts of ground and roof PV systems.

Description of Action: 
Advanced Solar Products, Inc. supplies company laptops to all employees. This reduces the need for meeting handouts and other mass printings effectively saving paper. In addition, the company has a healthy ink and electronic recycling program. In addition. A few years ago, Advanced Solar Products, Inc. employees were requested by management to bring in their own coffee mugs to reduce the need for disposable cups. Today, just about every employee participates reducing the amount of cups purchased by half.

ASP has implemented an office-wide recycling plan. We recycle plastic, paper, as well as other office supplies and consumables. Our plan for the future is to better educate others in the office of ways to recycle here as well as at home.

Our office also uses a geothermal system for heating and air conditioning, helping to reduce energy consumption and related emissions.

Advanced Solar Products, Inc. allows its employees to work from home occasionally keeping a few cars off the road for the day. Many employees live over an hour away making this option inherently beneficial to the environment. Staff and technicians also car pool to job sites to help reduce emissions.

Advanced Solar Products, Inc. has an office that offers abundant natural light on most floors and work areas. This reduces the need for artificial lighting and aids in energy conservation. The office also uses LED lights in most areas and employees are very conscious of turning lights off when they leave a space. Our office also uses a geothermal system for heating and air conditioning, helping to reduce energy consumption and related emissions.

Support Community Initiatives
Description of Action: 
Several of our employees at ASP are extremely active in community initiatives that support sustainability. Our President and CEO, Lyle Rawlings, was the co-founder of the Mid-Atlantic Solar Energy Industries Association (MSEIA) where he was instrumental in the creation of the New Jersey solar energy program, which today leads the nation in solar energy industry growth. Ed Seliga, Vice President and COO, has long been committed to and involved in the New Jersey Green Building movement. He has served 12 years as Board member and is currently Immediate Past Board Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council – NJ Chapter. For the Somerset County Business Partnership, he is Chair of the Board as well as Chair of “Sustainable Somerset.” Other employees of ASP are members of and volunteers for the U.S. Green Building Council - most notably, Ed Abaid serves as the current chairman of the Central Jersey Branch. In addition, one of our staff members serves on the Environmental Commission in the town where he and his family live.
