Description of Action: 
All spent grains are donated to a local farmer who uses the grain to supplement his feed for chickens and pigs. (The savings is amount we save not paying to have it hauled away; this does not include the savings the farmer achieves by not having to buy additional food for his chickens and pigs) We reuse yeast from brewing when we can. This saves us by not having to buy new yeast al the time.

Description of Action: 
The following are recycled at the brewery: Cardboard, Aluminum cans, Plastic water bottles, paper products, and wood pallets. We go through 3 yd dumpster in recyclables in a week. We recycle 1-2 wood pallets per week.

Our tasting room features reclaimed wood form Hunterdon County, and has a very warm comfortable feel.

Description of Action: 
We have install LED lights in our tasting rooms. We installed fluorescence lighting in our cold room and storage areas. We installed plastic barrier at entrance of cold room so that cold does not escape when door is open. Cold room was designed with R10 high density foam under concrete to reduce cold leeching to earth. Walls has R38 insulation (R25 EPS Foam, R13 fiberglas insulation). Ceiling has R25 EPS Foam.

Description of Action: 
Recapture hot water from heat exchange. This hot water is used for additional brewing reducing the amount of water that needs to be heated up.

Solids Interceptor was installed during buildout to capture hops and grains to prevent solids over 1/4" from entering sewage system. Capturing these solid reduces the energy required by sewage plant to break down.
