Provide Environmentally Preferable Products Services
Description of Action:
Honor Yoga features many eco-friendly products in our shops, including cork yoga blocks and eco-friendly yoga mats.
Waste Reduction
Description of Action:
Waste Reduction - Honor Yoga seeks to reduce its waste through a variety of initiatives. We discourage the use of bottled water by providing travel mugs and glass bottles to students, along with offering filtered water where students can fill their own bottles. Paper waste is reduced by only providing cloth hand towels in the bathroom and by posting our schedule and workshops on line or on our community chalk board. Teacher training – We send all handouts and manuals electronically and only print when requested. Our shopping bags are reusable.

Waste Recycling
Description of Action:
We also recycle even though our shopping center does not by bringing our recyclables to our home. We also take compostable trash home to compost.
Hazardous Waste/Toxic Use Reduction
Description of Action:
Hamilton uses rechargeable batteries. We use rechargeable candles which are provide more savings than single use battery operated candles. Actually when we opened we used battery and that was NOT sustainable. Savings is at least $100 a month compared to the original single use battery operated candles as we were replacing batteries constantly. Now we purchase real candles about once per quarter for special classes. For candles we do use – 90% are soy candles not made from petroleum. For cleaning we use essential oils and 7th generation products.

Energy Efficiency
Description of Action:
Our energy efficiency practices include the following: We use 3 smart thermostats to regulate temperature throughout the studio. We use a majority of LED lighting and as non LED lights burn out they are being replaced with LED so that we will be 100% LED within a short period of time. We do not have outdoor lights burning all night, only used while the studio is open. One bathroom has automatic lighting. Bathroom heaters are on an automatic timer as to only be on when we have classes.
