Description of Action:
Cigna utilizes a building management system and space temperature schedules to control the HVAC systems, building alarms and other critical systems within its facility. This along with installation of VFD’s on all large motors helps to ensure that the facility is maximizing the efficiency of its equipment reducing energy usage. Cigna is also committed to upgrading its Franklin Lakes facility to energy efficient lighting, in recent years we have done the following capital improvements: • Incorporated 50% LED lighting in all newly renovated floors • Replaced all roadway and parking lot lights with LED lights, which are operated by software to ensure maximum efficiency. • Installed motion sensors in all pantries, copy rooms and janitorial areas • Changed building standard temperature from 72 -74 degrees F to 70 - 72 degrees F in winter and 74 -76 degrees F in summer. The total result of these efforts is an offset to electrical demand by an estimated 5% for lighting and 10% for heating annually ($300,000.00).
