Description of Action: 
<p>Our core focus includes habitat, stewardship and wildlife. Leaving a legacy and strong foundation for our youth and families to enjoy and build upon. We are committed to the environment and saving habitat for all species of upland game birds and wildlife, as well as bees, butterflies and other pollinators.</p>

Description of Action: 
SJQP will be partnering with new private land owners yearly to serve as a consultant, as well as provide project work and monitoring of acreage in order to expand the reclaimed territory and alleviate fragmentation of habitat.

We use composted animal waste to fertilize our pollinator beds. Composted cow and chickenmanure, which would normally be a waste product, is used as fertilizer on fields to improve soil and thereby growth of plants and grasses.

Environmental & Community Restoration
Environmental Restoration Project
Description of Action: 
We conduct on-going habitat environmental restoration, revitalization, reclamation and improvement on private lands with the objective of preserving and sustaining suitable habitat for quail, other upland birds and associated suite of species. Through a grass roots approach our membership and partners vow to continue to expand viable habitat for Quail, educate the public and fellow sportsmen and sportswomen about quail habitat and the vast decline of the once prized game bird and other wildlife.

Environmental Success
Description of Action: 
We work with the local 4-H clubs and other youth groups through education including involving them in our projects so they obtain hands on experience in what it takes to reclaim environment for wildlife, and how to maintain it for future generations. We annually dead head our pollinator beds to promote re-seeding. We conduct land surveys and monitoring for birds and wildlife. We conduct annual trash pick-ups along county roads to assist in keeping the landscape beautiful and inviting. We conduct outreach to private land owners and companies to provide consultation on land use and habitat reclamation/rehabilitation.

Description of Action: 
We conduct speaking engagements and presentations to like-minded conservation, wildlife, animal groups to educate them on our mission with the objective of networking and working together on mutually beneficial projects. We hold annual Youth Days and participate in educational events throughout South Jersey where we introduce the public and children to the Bobwhite Quail, educate them on conservation initiatives, what we are doing to improve the landscape and how they get involved or do their part.

Support Community Initiatives
Description of Action: 
We encourage our partner private landowners to take advantage of Wildlife/Conservation grants and other agricultural/land grants which take the approach to conserve habitat on working lands. We provide tools and tips to landowners to manage for forests by providing wildlife openings and transitional habitats, as well as diverse understory vegetation which the bobwhite needs. Other projects focuses on ridding land of non native grasslands and replacing them with native warm season grasses, forbs and legumes that benefit bobwhite and other wildlife. SJQP provides technical support, land surveys, habitat monitoring and covey counts as well as manpower to accomplish these tasks. Habitat restored for the bobwhite benefits many other species, including turkeys, deer, rabbits, gopher tortoises, bog turtles and many different songbirds, including sparrows and warblers as well as bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
