Description of Action:
In addition to the “traditional” recycling programs, Hackettstown Medical Center recycles the following “non-traditional” items: batteries (alkaline, lead, lithium, nickel cadmium, nickel metal hydride), fluorescent light bulbs, items containing lead, lead shielding, cooking oil from the kitchen, mercury waste, and consumer electronic waste, which includes television sets, laboratory equipment, and other electronic devices. Hackettstown Medical Center has a universal waste vendor that picks up all “non-traditional” recyclables. Hackettstown Medical Center also recycles toner cartridges for all printers in jointure with Staples, Inc. For 2023, we recycled 3,540 lbs. of non-universal waste.
