Jessica Miller, President and Founder of Verdant Community Consulting, has a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences. I have almost two decades of experience in environmental and sustainability communication and planning, community engagement, and research in higher education, non-profit, government, and consulting settings. I am a trained geographer and an interdisciplinary and mixed-method (qualitative and quantitative data analysis) researcher. My research focuses on human-environmental interactions, including environment displacement and climate adaptation, environmental health and environmental justice, environmental perception and risk, environmental communication, community decision making and urban and environmental planning processes and policies. I am also experienced in spatial data analysis, instructional and institutional data analysis and planning, capacity building through program analysis and education, and program design.

I recently became part of the New York/New Jersey Trail Conference in the Trail Chair (voluntary) role, where I work with both voluntary and non-voluntary NYNJTC Coordinators and Trail Supervisors to build a positive future for all the trails and volunteers. I also support a team of Trail Supervisors in the North New Jersey region (which includes Norvin Green State Forest, Long Pond Ironworks State Park, Tranquility Ridge County Park, Ramapo Mountain State Park, and Ringwood State Park) to maintain and improve local trails to ensure the public has a safe and positive experience on the trails.
