Description of Action:
I make and sell everyday napkins, unpaper towel, tea towels, sweeper sheets, and so many more things, all from used cotton fabric. Making one mens cotton t-shirt takes over 600 gallons of water. All the used fabric saves: water, energy and carbon, and reduces use of trees and petroleum for the paper napkins wrapped in plastic bags.
I buy about 20lb of fabric each week and make it into more useful products. so in water savings that is about 40 cotton shirts of fabric per week x 600 x 52 weeks.
The used fabric saves me likely about $400 per week in lower material costs. so that's $20800.
***Keep in mind the actual cost of the environmental damage incurred by products is generally not included in the cost of the fast fashion, the disposable plastics, etc. In other words, consumers never pay for the environmental devastation their choices cause. Most folks don't even know the damage they cause, so change comes really slowly.
