Develop Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Plan

While this has been my practice, I had not put it in writing. This was a great exercise and I will share it with my employees and post it in the shop.

Provide Environmentally Preferable Products Services
Description of Action: 
At Mimosa Goods, providing environmentally preferable products to our community is part of our mission. Currently, we provide: Plant based cleaning products that are refillable on site Low waste home care items that are compostable, such as "un-paper" towels, dish cloths, bamboo toothbrushes, and scrub brushes. Bath and body products that are free of parabens, phlalates, and harmful preservatives. Jewelry, accessories and home goods made from upcycled or recycled materials. Plastic free toys and puzzles.
Aspirational Goals
Description of Action: 
Some of the products we sell have components that are not recyclable or compostable. An aspirational goal of mine is for Mimosa Goods to offer bins through Terracycle so that those items (eg candy wrappers, spray nozzles) are able to be recycled.

We began offering refills on the cleaning products we sell several years ago and expanded this service in 2021.

We do not offer paper receipts at the shop and send them via text or email. Reducing this waste saves us the cost of the receipt printer and the rolls of paper used.

Environmental Success
Description of Action: 
In 2021 we began partnering with One Tree Planted and pledged to donate a portion of our profit to them. We've been able to donate 575 trees so far and will keep this partnership going.

We participate in Shop Small Saturday annually. We also source goods and services from local businesses whenever possible.
