Tools for Calculating Environmental and Economic Benefits
Calculating environmental savings is a necessary step to enroll in the New Jersey Sustainable Business Registry. To help you calculate the environmental and financial savings, here are several Microsoft Excel calculators you can download for this purpose. The resources and calculators below are offered only as guidance. Other means of accounting for results are also acceptable.
Electric Savings – This calculator helps you compare the savings in electric usage by comparing 2 years of electric bills. It will calculate the kWh saved and money saved.
Lighting Savings – This calculator estimates the annual savings of electricity and money saved from using LED bulbs vs Incandescent bulbs.
Natural Gas Savings – This calculator helps you compare the savings in natural gas usage by comparing 2 years of gas bills. It will calculate the therms saved and money saved.
Vehicle Fuel Savings – This calculator estimates fuel savings from trip reductions or by using more fuel efficient vehicles. It will calculate the fuel saved in gallons and how much money was saved. Additionally the calculator will also convert gallons of fuel saved into BTUs saved for both gasoline and diesel fuel.
Waste Savings – This calculator estimates the amount of waste saved and money saved by those companies that have been able to reduce the number of trash pickups conducted each month. This calculator can also convert known waste savings reported in tonnage to pounds and estimate the amount of money saved.
Water Savings – This calculator helps you compare the savings in water usage by comparing 2 years of water bills. It will calculate the gallons saved and money saved.
